The Castro Farmers’ Market returns for its third year every Wednesday from 4-8pm. The local vendors set up on Noe Street between Market and Beaver streets. Check out the many organic and super fresh products including fruits, vegetables, nuts, meats, cheeses, eggs, breads, patries, soaps, flowers, orchids, honey, smoked fish, Afghani foods, yogurts, dips, pastas, herbs, and more!  Often there are free cooking demonstrations, children’s activities, contests, musicians and bands.

San Francisco Patrol Special Police Officer Jane Warner

A familiar face in the Castro for years, Officer Jane Warner of the Patrol Special Police passed on May 8.

After a valiant battle with cancer, Jane was thrilled to get back to the job she loved protecting our businesses, neighbors and visitors to our neighborhood. Ultimately the cancer won the fight and we are all deeply saddened by this huge loss.  An impromptu community tribute is at 18th & Castro streets and friends are invited to express sentiments on a Facebook page in her honor.

The SF Police have created a memorial page in her honor at their SF Patrol Special Police Force page. A formal celebration of life memorial is being planned at which time the Rainbow Flag on Market Street will be at half mast (details to follow).

Condolences to Jane’s family and many, many friends.
