Description

Make a date with your four-legged companion because your favorite pal is going to feel extra special at the “The Blessing of the Animals”. Your dog or cat can strut its stuff down the catwalk and win some serious swag in the Pet Costume contest. Next up is the Favorite Pet Trick contest. After which, your pooped pooch or puss will be revived with a pet massage just in time for the photo shoot (smile for the camera!). Local artists and crafts designers will be on hand displaying their animal-themed art and fashions. Enter in our raffle to win some great prizes from local merchants. End your date by getting your pet blessed by the Sisters when “The Blessing of the Animals” is performed. All proceeds benefit Rocket Dog Rescue, which rescues dogs from over-crowded shelters and places them into loving, happy homes.

The Shirley Q Liquor Hurricane Weekend Party Bus

Need a break from the fast-paced city life? Check out the roundtrip bus trip to the sunny Russian River on Saturday, June 19. We depart from Cafe Flore at noon and returning at midnight. Drag comedian Shirley Q. Liquor comes out of “retirement” for ONE NIGHT ONLY on June 19 at the Russian River Hurricane Party 2010. Come and see the undisputed Queen of Controversy as she stirs it up with her wit and oh-so un-PC comedy!!!

This includes a trip on the party bus with your Hostess ROMA and cocktails courtesy of Stoli and served by some hot young porn puppies, a poolside experience like no other and admission to see Shirley perform that evening.

Space is LIMITED to 50 and the price is ONLY $40 RT (After May 15 the rate increases to $55).

San Francisco Patrol Special Police Officer Jane Warner

A familiar face in the Castro for years, Officer Jane Warner of the Patrol Special Police passed on May 8.

After a valiant battle with cancer, Jane was thrilled to get back to the job she loved protecting our businesses, neighbors and visitors to our neighborhood. Ultimately the cancer won the fight and we are all deeply saddened by this huge loss.  An impromptu community tribute is at 18th & Castro streets and friends are invited to express sentiments on a Facebook page in her honor.

The SF Police have created a memorial page in her honor at their SF Patrol Special Police Force page. A formal celebration of life memorial is being planned at which time the Rainbow Flag on Market Street will be at half mast (details to follow).

Condolences to Jane’s family and many, many friends.
